04 — Virtual events

As a member, you’ll be able to use our Virtual Event Platform to create cinematic virtual events. Sell tickets, receive donations, and collect emails.

Virtual Events

How do I create my username and password for using the Virtual Event Platform?

+

Please follow the instructions we sent via email on how to create a virtual event account.

Missed our email? Not to worry, you can create your account here. If you need any help, please contact us at support@showandtell.film.

I’m ready to host my first virtual event! How do I create one?

+

You have two options when it comes to your event: DIY or our team can build it for you. In either case, the cost is the same. You will need to purchase an event license for each event you host, and we recommend getting your event set up in advance to avoid any last minute stress. We have a very small team, so we cannot guarantee that we will be able to answer any customer service requests last minute.

To get started, you will log into your filmmaker dashboard and select which option works best for you.

Want to DIY? Great! We've put together a short tutorial video.

Want our team to build your event? We'd love to! Your next steps are:

  1. Complete your payment for your virtual event credit
  2. Fill out the form with all of your event's assets
  3. We'll build a draft event, send to you for approval or feedback, then go live!

Help! I forgot my Virtual Event Platform password!

+

No problem! You can reset your password by requesting a password reset to your email here. Still, having trouble logging in? Contact our support staff at support@showandtell.film.

Will the Virtual Event Platform work on any browser?

+

Our platform is most compatible with Chrome and Safari.

How do I test the different features of my event?

+

We recommend checking your event a few days before it goes live. You can send it to a friend or ask our team to check it out! Remember, if the screening window hasn't started yet, the film will not be available to view.

What if my attendee needs a refund?

+

If an attendee needs a refund, reach out to support@showandtell.film, and we can process the refund for you!

How and when do I get paid?

+

For filmmakers located in the US:

Once you’re Stripe verified, added your bank account information, and your event is active, you will receive the revenue from your event weekly on Friday.

The transaction cut-off is Wednesday, meaning your payout on Friday will only reflect the transactions made that week up until Wednesday.

The remaining funds for that week will arrive the following Friday.

For international Filmmakers:

Depending on where you’re located, account transfer times may vary. Don’t hesitate to get in touch with support@showandtell.film for more information.

How is my film protected on the Virtual Screening Platform?

+

As a platform for filmmakers, by filmmakers, we know how important it is to protect your film.

We use Vimeo to host all of the videos on our site. Vimeo has robust security for content uploaded to its platform, which is why we chose it to power our streaming. Read about Vimeo's security here.

We have worked with hundreds of filmmakers worldwide and have not encountered any piracy issues on our platform.

Many filmmakers choose to host private screenings by requiring attendee registration/tickets.

How much does hosting an event with S&T cost?

+

New PRO members are provided one complimentary event license, and each additional license is $300.

How do I request my screening event to be made?

+

Please click “Request an Event” on your filmmaker dashboard. After you have confirmed your event is 3 weeks or more from today’s date you’ll be asked to schedule a meeting with our team to help you get started. You’ll then be asked to submit your assets prior to meeting with our team.

How far in advance should I request my event to be made?

+

Please submit your film event typeform/request with your film assets to our event organizer team at least three weeks prior to when you want your event to go live.

05 — Community

This is where you'll connect with fellow filmmakers and the Show&Tell team to chat it up, ask for feedback, and ask any strategy questions. Don’t be intimidated, we’re all super positive and nice — no matter where in your fundraising and distribution experience you are.

How do I join?

+

Send us a quick request to join the Private Filmmaker Community here!

Once you’re approved, hop in and leave a quick post; please tell us who you are and share a little about your project.

How do I ask a question? How do I answer a question?

+

That is a VERY good question. This is Filmmaker Community Etiquette 101.

When asking a question:

  • Ask your question in the “write something” section of the community.
  • Have questions about your trailer or film’s website? Share a link to the piece of content you have questions about in your post!
  • Share specifics! Screenshots or a screen recording (we love to use Loom, It’s free!)
  • Have any technical, troubleshooting support, or general questions regarding virtual events? The best way to get the help you need is to contact our team directly at: support@showandtell.film. Once your question is submitted, our team of virtual event experts will review your request and get back to you shortly.

When answering a question:

  • Please, reply to the thread so we can keep conversations nice and tidy!
  • Be kind and courteous! Let's treat everyone with respect. Healthy debates are natural, but kindness is required.
  • Also, @mention them in your answer, so they're notified. We LOVE it when filmmakers help each other.

I'm feeling overwhelmed by the Facebook Community. Do I need to use it?

+

We hear you! While not required, we think there are a lot of great resources and conversations in our filmmaker community. We're all about community learning, and the private Facebook Group is an excellent place for that.

If you’re new to fundraising and distribution, hosting virtual events, online learning, or want to digitally vent, head to the group for some support! Chances are, someone can relate to what you're experiencing and offer help or words of encouragement!
